Thealphabetofthetrainedbody

Every technique has a name, a body part that executes it and an exact place in combat. Without that vocabulary there is no form, no sparring, no grading.

Chapter 01 · The concept

Whatisatechnique?

A technique is a codified body movement with an exact Korean name, a body part that performs it and a defined target. It is not a gesture: it is a sign of a language learned through repetition.

Every Taekwondo school teaches the same alphabet: stances that root the body, attacks that project force, blocks that redirect it and self-defense techniques for close combat. Names shift between ITF and WT, nuances change, but the base repertoire is shared.

Here they are catalogued with their hangul, their romanization, their translation and the body part that executes each one. Each entry is the minimum unit that an exam, a form or sparring already takes for granted.

A black belt is not someone who performs hard techniques, but someone who performs basic techniques with a cleanness impossible for a white belt.

Chapter 02 · The families

Fivefamiliesoftechnique

Every technique belongs to one of five families. That classification is not decorative: it defines which body part works, which target it pursues and when it is taught within the belt curriculum.

Stances are the base on which everything else is executed. Attacks split into hand and foot because of their radically different mechanics. Blocks redirect, they don't just stop. Self-defense is the last thing learned and the first thing that saves you.

Chapter 03 · The anatomy

Thebodyexecutesinparts

A kick is not delivered «with the leg». It is delivered with the instep, or the foot blade, or the heel, or the sole. The technique's name tells you exactly which body part carries the force to the target.
