The resolution for the reunification of Korea, divided since 1945. The diagram (I) symbolizes the homogeneous Korean race awaiting to become one nation again.
Tong-Il (통일, 'Reunification') is the final Tul in the Chang Hon system and represents the aspiration to reunify the Korean peninsula, divided since 1945. Its 56 movements and its diagram in the shape of a capital I symbolize the homogeneous Korean race artificially separated into two states. It is required at 5th and 6th Dan. It introduces the jumping scissors kick, the combination of six continuous kicks without touching the ground, and the closing position with both hands over the heart. Its execution is slow and deliberate in the opening, explosive in the center, and serene in the closing, narrating Korea's historical journey: pride, suffering, and hope.
